START LEARNING TO DIVE TODAY
WITH ON LINE TRAINING.
It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1 Get Smart
Master all the important academic information for your entry-level Open Water Diver certification. Traditionally, this required several days of formal classroom training. Now, through on line training, you can complete this phase through self-study, at your own pace, in the convenience of your home or office.
2 Get Wet
The next step is to complete your in-water skill development training with one of our instructors. Your instructor will also review the academic information from your on line training with you to make sure you understand everything and to clarify any questions you might have. This is done during our class/pool sessions.
3 Go Diving
The final step is to complete the required number of open water training dives under the supervision of your scuba instructor.

About the On Line Open Water Diver Class
Executive Scuba and SDI's on line diver training program make it possible for you to complete all of the academic requirements for your entry-level Open Water Diver certification on line. You can get started right now and, when you are done, complete your in-water skill development sessions and final open water training dives with one of our instructors in the Dallas area, or choose to complete the in-water portion at your favorite vacation destination.
Getting your entry-level diver certification is a three-step process:
• The first step is to acquire all of the important academic information every certified diver must know. Through on line training, you can complete this phase through self-study, at your own pace, in the convenience of your home or office.
• The next step is to complete your in-water skill development training. This takes place in a swimming pool or similar body of confined water. Here you will learn the fundamental skills that every diver needs to know. (It’s also a lot of fun.)
• The final step is to complete four or more open water training dives under the supervision of your scuba instructor. Here you will apply what you have learned during your academic and in-water skill development sessions, while learning practical lessons that can only be gained through real-world experience in open water.
Once you have completed the first step of on line academic training, you have several options to complete the in-water skill development and open water portions of your training:
• You can complete both the in-water skill development sessions and open water training dives with one of our instructors. We have regularly scheduled classes in the Dallas area to accomodate you (see our class schedule). Our regularly scheduled Open Water classes take place over 5 sessions to complete the remainder your training. This includes an intro, class, pool, and lake sessions... everything you need to become a certified diver!
• As another option, you can complete the in-water skill development sessions in the Dallas area with one of our instructors (the intro, class & pool sessions), and then do your open water training dives at the vacation destination of your choice.
• Your third option is to complete both the in-water skill development sessions and open water training dives at at the vacation destination of your choice.
Whatever option you choose, we can help you with the arrangements. When you are done with all three phases of your training, we will order your permanent certification card and you will be a lifetime certified diver!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where does Executive Scuba hold the regularly scheduled Open Water classes?
A. Our regularly scheduled Open Water classes are held at the activity center and natatorium of the University of Texas at Dallas. Directions to UTD
Q. Can I really get certified to dive on line?
A. The most important part of learning to dive is getting in the water with a qualified instructor to develop and practice critical underwater skills. That’s something you cannot do on a computer.
What you can do is eliminate the need to spend valuable time in a classroom setting, going through academic material you are perfectly capable of learning on your own, at your own pace and when it is most convenient. This saves considerable time. For some people, this makes the difference between being able to get certified or not.
Q. Can I learn as well on line as I could with a real live instructor?
A. Different people learn best in different ways. For some, it’s a traditional classroom setting. Others prefer to have a real-live textbook they can touch, feel and flip through. Most people, however, find that computer-based learning systems provide the best possible combination of convenience, enjoyment and effective learning.
What’s important to understand, however, is that just because you are learning in the comfort and convenience of your home or office, doesn’t mean you are on your own. Our staff will be monitoring your progress, and is available by phone or e-mail if you have any questions. During our class/pool sessions your instructor will also review the academic training information from your on line course with you to make sure you do not have any questions.
Q. How can I tell if my computer is capable of letting me take part in on line training?
A. If you can read this, you can take part in on-line training. Any desktop or laptop computer that has an Internet connection and is capable of running a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Safari or Firefox will work.
Some pages in the on line course contain short video clips. To see these, you will need to have or install Apple’s QuickTime plug-in, which you can download free of charge from Apple’s website.
With the video clips, it also helps to have a high-speed connection. The video clips, however, are a “nice to have” feature not a “need to have” one. If you have a dial-up connection, you can still take the course (although you may want to skip watching the videos). All the need-to-know information is provided in a non-video form as well.
Q. What if I normally use AOL to browse the Internet?
A. If you normally use AOL to browse the Internet, through a dial-up connection, you can continue to do so to participate in the on-line course; however, you should avoid using AOL’s built-in web browser when doing so.
AOL routes a lot of outside content through what are known as proxy servers. This can cause a substantial delay in your ability to access on-line course content.
What you should do instead is:
• Use AOL to open a connection to the Internet.
• Open another web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox or Safari, and use it to access the on-line course.
If you have a high-speed connection, then you already connect to the Internet through a provider other than AOL. Just use another web browser and bypass AOL entirely.
Q. What options will I have for completing my in-water training?
A. Depending on the course, you may have several options to complete the in-water phases of your training. For example:
• You can complete any in-water skill development sessions and the final open water training dives with one of our instructors locally.
• You may be able to complete the skill development sessions with one of our instructors locally, then do your open water training dives at the vacation destination of your choice.
• You may also be able to complete both the skill development sessions and open water training dives at at the vacation destination of your choice.
Q. When will I receive my official certification card?
A. When you are done with all three phases of your training, we will order your permanent certification card.
Q. What equipment will I need to take the course?
A. Students are required to supply a minimum of scuba-quality mask, snorkel, fins and booties (for use with adjustable, open-heel fins). Do not make any equipment purchases, however, without first consulting us. We will guide you in the right direction for your equipment purchase. The right equipment can last for years. Thus, it makes sense to purchase the right equipment the first time and to avoid making any costly mistakes.
Q. How do I sign up?
A. Just contact us to start your on line class today.

Q. How much will it cost?
